Please ensure you meet the below criteria before submitting your application. There are also a number of promises / pledges that we ask all settings to aim to keep to in order to maintain this standard. The award is valid for three years before a new application / review is required to continue to hold the award.
Criteria
- 80% of Staff working within EYFS environment will hold a current PFA (or EFAW if not EYFS) certificate which has at least 12 months left before its expiry. This Certificate must be provided by a FAIB approved provider.
- Training must be renewed every three years.
- Conduct a Staff Survey every 12 months to assess the need for a basic refresher for all trained staff, this is useful to stay up to date with changes.
- Have on site a working AED (Defib) or be within 200m (if on foot) or 500m (if the premises has access to a vehicle) of a public AED (Defib).
We ask all receivers of this award to make the below pledges. Although you do not have to provide us with evidence of the below, this is the gold standard which makes your setting stand out.
- Pledge that an accident reporting / recording process is in place which all staff know how to access.
- Pledge that at least one fully stocked first aid kit in every classroom which is checked weekly.
- Pledge that If on a school trip, a travel first aid kit will be present with at least two first aiders.
- Pledge that at least Two people who hold a full current paediatric first aid (PFA) certificate must be on the premises and available at all times when children are present, this includes making sure a first aider is accompanying children on outings.
- Pledge that for new staff, a Paediatric first aid certificate within two months of starting work to be included in the required staff to child EYFS ratio.
